As any acne sufferer will tell you, the hardest part about having moderate to severe acne is trying to figure out what your triggers are. For some, more than a few moments in the direct sun will lead to a pimple and freckle explosion, while others have learned to avoid a particular kind of food. Still for others, it is perspiration and others it might be a particular kind of fabric rubbing against the skin over and over again. Regardless of what your triggers are, scientists have come to the conclusion that one of the best ways to muffle your acne triggers is with proper nutrient intake each and every day. This goes beyond simply having a balanced diet, although that is extremely important, too. Often times, teens will take extra vitamins, like A and C, in hopes that the extra boost gives their bodies the extra fuel they need to have clearer skin. This may not be the best course of action, however. The old saying, “Everything in moderation” is the key here. Making sure you get all of your necessary vitamins every day is vitally important, but you also want to make sure you don’t go overboard on a particular fruit, vegetable or other type of food since you might be doing more harm than good.
The most important nutrients when it comes to clear skin are Vitamins A and E since they help to promote proper skin health. It is always best to get your vitamins and nutrients from foods rather than from vitamin pills, but if you aren’t going to be eating a balanced diet, you can always compensate. The important thing to remember is, if you got 100 percent of your potassium and other vitamins from a morning pill, don’t force yourself to eat 4 bananas to get even more of those nutrients. Simply concentrate on hitting all of the important food groups and avoiding processed fats and sugars. The rest will take care of itself.
