Body Acne Treatment

No matter what part of your body it is where an acne outbreak occurs, the desire to get rid of it and cover it up is just as strong as if it were anywhere else. With body acne, the pain and embarrassment that you can feel when people notice it seems a little different than with facial acne. With body acne, you might wonder what they are thinking about you and how you can hide it all.

There is hope for getting rid of even body acne. Acne can appear anywhere on your body. Your face, arms, legs, scalp, neck, back, chest and buttocks are all candidates for experiencing body acne at one time or another. When we speak about body acne, though, we are mainly talking about acne on the torso — the back, chest, and buttocks.

If you are someone who has body acne, finding ways to control the outbreaks and get rid of the acne before it goes into a severe flare-up may save you a lot of pain, embarrassment, and scarring.
Causes and Treating It

With body acne, if you can figure out what triggers it for you, then you can usually end it or at least bring it under control.

Like facial acne, body acne can be caused by clogged pores. When the oils can’t get through the skin, the pores can become inflamed, resulting in pimples. One way to help avoid having clogged pores is to keep your skin clean and free of bacteria that can clog the pores. Though this might be difficult to do — after all, everyone is constantly exposed to pollutants and chemicals in the air — it is something that must be done to the best of your ability to control the acne.

There are things that you are exposed to and can avoid easily that may be the cause of your body acne. Any skin sensitivity must be taken care of. If you are sensitive to or allergic to fabric softener, skin cream, certain soaps or detergents, or materials that your clothing is made out of, then making sure you don’t use any of those products might just be the key to you being free of body acne.

If you have any food allergies or sensitivities, exposure to those foods may cause an outbreak that looks like acne. Medication allergies can have the same effects. Avoiding the things that make you break out will go a long way in helping you overcome any body acne you may be having and helping make sure you are at minimal risk of having it again.

Quite often, tight clothing can irritate body acne. It may not be the cause, but it can help it spread and might cause an increase in trapped bacteria that can get inside the pores and irritate the skin to a point of creating acne. Many athletes have a problem with body acne because they wear spandex or other tight fitting material when they workout. One way to help with this is to shower and change clothes right after a workout. That way, the bacteria is washed away quickly instead of worked into your skin. Body acne is controllable, and the worst outbreaks can be avoided if you make sure you know the cause.
